Wrapping up the Week!

  • Today we worked hard in our guided reading groups.  The kids are doing a great job of doing their independent work while I meet with groups!  In guided reading this week we worked on the skill of asking questions.  We talked about how important it is to ask questions before, during and after we read.  Asking questions helps to keep our minds engaged and focused on what we are reading.
  • We wrote in our symbol book about Christopher Columbus.  We also read another book with a different perspective called, Encounter by Jane Yolen.  The concept was challenging, but we focused on the idea that most situations have two different points of view.
  • We started the sixth and last "Mercy Watson" book.
  • We did a math project and collected data about the number of pockets people were wearing today.  We talked about finding the middle number.
  • We took our science test on weather.
  • We ended the day with some brain game time.

Have a great weekend!
