Science Switching

Today we finished up our first set of science switching.  We will switch one more time for Balance and Motion in February.  Ask you child about the mobile activity and pencil trick that they did with Mr. Nelson and Mrs. Rowan!

Today we also continued to work on our cause and effect stories.  Soon they will be ready to be put up in the hallway.  Stop by in the next couple of weeks to see our fun stories!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Science Switching and Writing

Today our class went to Mrs. Kath and Mrs. Anderson's room for science.  Ask your child what they learned about "zoomers" in Mrs. Kath's room and tops in Mrs. Anderson's room. Tomorrow our class goes to Mr. Nelson and Mrs. Rowan's room!

Today we also continued to work on our cause and effect stories.  Our stories are modeled after the Laura Numeroff books, "If You Give a . . . "

I am excited for the Brimhall Bonanza tomorrow night!  I am looking forward to seeing many of you there!

Read-a-Thon & Bengal Pride

Today we had a special assembly about the upcoming Brimhall Read-a-Thon and about Bengal Pride.  Student representatives told the school about how the Read-a-Thon will work this year.  *Please see important information regarding this in your child's Wednesday folder tomorrow.  I will also be sending an email out.  We watched a video made by Ms. Zbacnik that included each of the grade levels doing different things that reflect the different areas of Bengal Pride.  Watch for our classroom showing Care of Property!  Finally, the assembly ended with a surprise flash mob.  Ask your child about it!

Here is the link to the Bengal Pride video!

Triangle and Arch

Today we did another balance science experiment.  It involved a triangle, an arch and clothes pins.  We did more experimenting with counter weights.  We also talked about what a stable position is.  Ask your child if they can tell you where the counterweights should be put so that the object is in a stable position.

Balance and Motion

Today we started our new science unit, "Balance and Motion."  Our first experiment involved a paper crayfish and clothes pins.  We talked about finding the balance point.

Then we explored the idea of "counter weights."  Ask your child how and why counterweights help something balance!
