Today we had some time to use the iPads. Kids worked independently for a while and then they had a choice to work with a partner or continue working on their own. We did math, reading and coding apps.
Have a great weekend!

Parts of a Plant
Today students made a plant book that showed the different parts of the plant and what each part does. Have your child show you their book and open the flaps and tell you about it!

Thank you, Mr. Joe!
Today we did our formal good-byes and appreciation to Mr. Joe. He has been a wonderful help in our classroom for the past few months! We wish him the best of luck as he continues in his teaching career!
We gave him one of our favorite books, The Day the Crayons Quit. It was fun to have him read it to us!

Author Visit: Sarah Mlynowski
Today author Sarah Mlynowski came to visit Brimhall!
It was fun to meet her and hear her talk about her different books!
She talked about two of her popular series: "Whatever After" and "Upside Down Magic." She also talked about her writing process. See if your child can tell you some of the things that they learned about her!

What If You Had Animal Teeth?
Today we started working on an opinion writing project. Earlier this week we read this book. Each student picked which kind of teeth he/she thinks would be best to have. Today we worked on creating their faces with their new animal teeth! Next week we will finish up with stating our opinion on why their choice of teeth would be the best to have!
Ask your child which animal teeth he/she chose!

Star of the North Book Winner!
Today in library Ms. Zbacnik told us which book won the Star of the North award!
These are the books that our school chose as winners!
These are the books that students in Minnesota chose!
And the winner is The Day the Crayons Quit! Definitely one of our favorite books! The best part was seeing how excited they all got when Ms. Zbacnik revealed the winners! These kids love and appreciate good books!

Growing!
Look at how much and fast our brassica plants have grown! Our grass continues to grow quickly, too! We will have to cut it again before the weekend!

Field Trip: Plants and Como Zoo!
We had a great time today learning about plants and how they help us!
Ask your child about some of the plants they learned about and the different things that they do for people!
We also got to make bath salts! See what scent your child chose!
We did a scavenger hunt in the North Garden and learned more about different things that plants do! Ask your child what they found!
It was fun to see many of the animals. One of the zoo keepers told us that giraffes like to lick the walls! It's kind of like chewing gum for people!
