Working Hard Today

Today we worked hard doing many things! We start off our day doing WIN time. This is a time where students work in different groups based on what they need in literacy. After that they come back and work on guided reading work while I meet with small groups. Today our U of M intern, Miss Lawrence, helped students finish up on an art project. We also did a math test today! Everyone works hard and does a great job!

The Gateway Arch

Today we started learning about the Gateway Arch. This is our next symbol in our symbol book. 

We came up with three questions that we want to find more information about. We also looked at two different books online about the Gateway Arch. On Thursday at library, Ms. Zbacnik will help us do more research! 

Science Today

Today we did one more experiment with the mobiles. This time the students had the challenge of having one side be heavier than the other side. They had to figure out how to balance it when they didn't have an equal counterweight.  Ask your child what had to be done in order for the mobile to balance!

They also went to Ms. Groth for science today! Ask your child about what Ms. Groth did with them!

Science Switching with Mrs. Kath

This week we are doing some science switching with the other second grade teachers! Today our class went to Mrs. Kath's room for a science lesson. this is one of the materials that she used with them. Ask your child about what else they used and what they learned!

Marble Structures

This morning we had a little time to experiment and play with marbles and creating structures for them. It was great to see everyone working together and creating things together! They did a great job!

Mobiles

Today in science we made mobiles! We learned how it's important that the balance point is in the middle. Ask your child what he/she needed to do in order to have the mobile balance! (The weights need to be equal distance from the balance point.) Everyone did a great job working on this! Next week we will do a second experiment with the mobiles that is a little more challenging!






















 

Triangle and Arch

Today we did another science experiment about balance. We talked about balance point and where the counterweights need to be. See if your child can tell you about what we did and learned!
