International Choir

Today we were able to see the Brimhall International Choir perform! It was fun to see students, parents and teachers singing together! There were special dances and even a surprise visit by Mrs. Bidne!  The International Choir will perform tonight at the Brimhall Fair.  I hope to see many of you there!

Special Times

This morning we wrote in our Special Times book about Track and Field day. Everyone had special memories and drew some great pictures!

This morning we also performed our reader's theater plays for the first time in front of a real audience!  Our fourth grade buddy class came down to see them! Everyone did a great job!  We will be performing for other second and first grade classes.  We look to showing our families on June 5th!

Track and Field Day

Today was our Track and Field day! Mr. DePrez and Mrs. Brink put all of the second graders into twelve groups.  Each group had a mix of students from all the four second grades. Everyone met together to go over the rules and details for the afternoon.

Mrs. Ramirez's sixth grade class came to help out and they did a great job! A favorite game involved getting wet and cooling off with water!

The final event of the afternoon was tug-of-war! First our class went against Mrs. Anderson's class and we won! The next time we went against Mrs. Kath's class.  They won that round! Everyone worked hard and did a great job!

Showing good sportsmanship!

We ended the afternoon with popsicles! What a fun afternoon!  A big thank you to Mr. DePrez and Mrs. Brink for organizing such a fun event!

Doll Day

Today we had a special guest visitor, Lucille Little. Lucille used to own a doll shop in St. Paul. When she was little she started collecting dolls. Her collection grew when her friends would travel and bring back dolls for her.  She started out as a teacher and saved up her money to open up her own doll shop. Her dream came true and she had her doll shop for about 5 years. She made a point to find dolls that represented different countries and cultures. After 5 years she had to close her shop. She wanted to give her dolls to good homes where they would be loved and taken care of.

Last year she connected with Mr. Nelson (who taught second grade last year but teaches fifth grade this year.) Her husband passed away and she wanted to use some of her time working with and helping out students. She decided to give away some of her dolls to those students. She wanted to do the same thing this year. So today she brought in many dolls to go home with our students! Each classroom did a drawing for some of the dolls. Anyone could choose to put their name if they wanted one. What a special day!

All School Clean Up

Today was our All School Clean Up! We worked with our buddy classroom to clean up the field area.  We picked up trash, pine cones and pulled weeds. Everyone worked hard and did a great job! We had a healthy snack - a choice between an apple, orange or banana. We even had time for a quick foot race! It was perfect weather! We had a great time working with our buddy class and helping to do something good for our school!

Have a great weekend!
