Good Night Moon/Good Night Goon

Today we read a parody about Good Night Moon.  We first spent several days just reading the original story of Good Night Moon. I told the students how important it was that they know the original story very well because the pattern and structure of the story was very important.

Today we ready Good Night Goon.  We talked about how a parody is usually a funny version of a familiar book or story.  The important thing is that it copies the same style or pattern of the original book/author.

After I read Good Night Goon one time through.  I held up each book simultaneously so that they could see how the pattern and style matched in each book.  They enjoyed seeing the similar story structure!

I told them to come back on Monday because I have another book that is a parody of Good Night Moon!  Plus we will start the third Mercy Watson book!

Have a great weekend!
