This week we are focusing on using correct punctuation at the end of our sentences. We have talked about telling sentences, asking sentences and command, expression and/or warning sentences. Today we read some of Mo Willem's "Pigeon" books. Mo Willems does a wonderful job of showing his characters' thoughts and feelings through simple sentences. After reading a couple of his books, the students practiced drawing their own pigeon and writing a sentence with the correct punctuation to go with it. Tomorrow we will look at some "Piggie and Elephant" books and how correct punctuation is used.
