Today we did a partner community building activity. Each group of partners had the following supplies: a plastic cup, a "stirring stick," a gummy worm, a gummy lifesaver and two paper clips. The start position was the cup with the "stirring stick" laying across the top with "Sammy" the worm on top of the stick. The goal was to work together to get Sammy into his "life jacket" on top of the cup. The cup also needed to be turned upside down! The rules were: Sammy could not touch the table. Hands could not touch Sammy the worm or the lifesaver. The paper clip could not "stab" or poke into Sammy or the lifesaver.
Partners had to work together to find creative ways to get Sammy into his "life jacket!"
Afterwards we talked about how the process went. We talked about how partners needed to work together. They had to keep trying and not give up, even when it was hard or frustrating! We talked about how we need to do the same thing at school! This year we will do our best to work hard and not give up, even when things are frustrating!
