Research + Symbol Book

Today we started our Symbol book.  We will research important people, landmarks and symbols throughout the year.  Ms. Zbacnik will help us do a lot of our research in the library! 

Our first symbol is the American flag.  We talked about the importance of using multiple sources to find our facts.  We also talked about how important it is to make sure that our sources are all basically saying the same information. See if your child can tell you the special word we used when we talk about having at least 3 good sources.  Hint: Tell them it sounds like the word "triangle."

After we did our research we wrote our paragraph together.  We will be working a lot this year on writing a good main idea paragraph - a topic sentence, support sentences and a concluding sentence.

This is a great first step in our research skills and learning more about our country!
