The Electoral College

Today we learned about the electoral college! We read a book called, Grace for President. This book talked about how the electoral college works. So today we practiced voting the electoral college way! 





Students were able to vote between brain games or free time. First, each student picked a colored card. That card represented what "state" they would be in.

Next they found the other kids who were in their "state."  Some states had more people than others, just like in the real world.

Then representatives from each state came out to the hallway to learn about the two different choices. Their job was to go back to their "state" and report to them about the two different choices.



Next states talked together and decided on which choice to cast their electoral votes.









The representatives came to cast their electoral votes for their "state."










The winner was brain games! 12 electoral votes to 1 electoral vote. 

See if your child can tell you how many electoral votes Minnesota gets! Also, see if your child can tell you how the number of electoral votes for each state is decided! Tomorrow students will "register" to vote!
