Math and Literacy

Today we read a special book. We talked about landmarks. We talked about how landmarks help us know where we are. They are familiar things, places, etc. This year we will have some books that will be "landmark books" for us. They are books that are well written and have good writing, word choice, ideas, etc. that we can come back to.

See if your child can tell you about, Louise, The Adventures of a Chicken!

We also talked about making connections when we read. We talked about text-to-self and text-to-text connections. See if your child can tell you about the text-to-text connections between these two books!

In math we are working on adding and subtracting strategies. See if your child can tell you about the strategy we talked about today (counting on).
