Guided Reading Work Time

We have been practicing doing good quality work during our guided reading work time! Soon I will be meeting with students in small groups to work on specific reading skills. During that time students will be working independently. During this time they will work on a variety of things. Every day we practice the spelling words in a variety of ways. We also work on vocabulary words that go with our literacy theme. We work on different kinds of writing. We also have a packet that reviews and reinforces specific skills that we are working on in literacy. There is also time each day to read independently! We are working on finding and reading "good fit" books. We practice using the "5 Finger" rule. See if your child can tell you how the "5 Finger" rule works!
