Closing Circle

Yesterday we tried something new. We always have a morning meeting to start our day. Yesterday we ended the day with a closing circle. In the morning we greet each other with a greeting in a different language. Yesterday we told each other to have a "good night." At the beginning of the day yesterday I put up some phrases for everyone to think about and to look for in their classmates throughout the day.

You helped someone today.
You showed responsibility today.
You showed cooperation today.
You showed self-control today.
You showed kindness today.
You took a learning risk today.
You were a good friend today.
You were respectful today.
You shared today.
You were a good listener today.

In our closing circle I went through each one and had students share examples of when they saw their classmates doing these things throughout the day. It was a positive way to end the day! We will continue to try out different closing circle ideas this year!
