The Great Banana Experiment

Today we started our "Great Banana Experiment." We talked about how scientists need to experiment in order to find out what works and what doesn't work. I posed this question: "How can I keep my banana fresh?" I put the students into six groups. Each group discussed possible ideas/ways to keep a banana fresh. This is what the groups came up with:

#1 - Put it on the window ledge in the sun.
#2 - Put it in a ziploc bag (squeeze out the air) and put it in the fridge.
#3 - Put salt on it and put it in the freezer.
#4 - Wrap a cloth around it and put it in the cupboard.
#5 - Put it in the fridge, no bag.
#6 - Put salt on it and put it in the sun.

We will make daily observations this week and record our findings!
