Adding Money with the Calculators

Today our math lesson was on using the calculators to add money amounts.  First we practiced putting money amounts into the calculator.  We practiced putting in amounts that were less than 10 cents.  For example, $0.02.  Then we practiced putting amounts in that were more than 10 cents. For example, $0.12. Next students played with a partner.  Each person rolled the dice to find out how many pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters and dollars he/she had.  Then each person added up their amount on their calculator.

For example:

Penny     Nickel     Dime     Quarter     Dollar
  2         4         5          1          3

This was the tricky part - being able to remember how to add the different amounts.  It takes practice! Everyone worked hard!
